The Toowoomba Studio Art Trail: Celebrating Creativity and Connection

 

Launched in 2023, the Toowoomba Studio Art Trail is an exciting initiative created by Cindy MacDonald and Jeanne Cotter and designed to connect local artists with the community. Every weekend in September, artists open their home studios to the public, offering an opportunity to showcase their work, engage with visitors, and contribute to Toowoomba’s thriving artistic culture. We are so excited to bring this idea to life!

 

As founders of the Toowoomba Studio Art Trail, our mission is to provide a platform for local artists to share their creative practices and personal spaces with the public. By aligning with the Toowoomba Carnival of Flowers and Downlands Art Show each September, this event celebrates our region’s talent with a focus on community spirit. The success of our inaugural event was marked by huge attendance, lots of positive feedback, and wonderful connections for both our individual artists and the group as a whole.

 

Heading towards our fourth year, we are committed to fostering inclusivity and growth among Toowoomba artists. In 2025 we had 14 studios opening every weekend in September, with each home studio hosting one or two artists. Keeping the studios all within the Toowoomba City radius ensures that visitors can comfortably explore all of our studios within a manageable timeframe, whether over a weekend or across multiple visits, without feeling overwhelmed by too many choices or lengthy travel distances. 

 

Our ethos is to ensure fairness, inclusivity, and a rich experience for all of our artists and visitors. We look forward to welcoming you to the Toowoomba Studio Art Trail, where, just once a year, you can explore the studios and minds of some of Toowoomba's most eclectic creatives in their private spaces.
